
Masayuki joined the JRA in 1975. He has held management positions including as the Chief Representative of JRA New York Office and General Manager of Corporate Strategies Planning Department before being appointed to the JRA Board of Directors in 2006. He was appointed as the Executive Director in 2011, and in 2014, he was appointed as the President and CEO. After nine years of leadership, he was appointed as Executive Advisor in 2023 and represents Japan on strategic matters related to international racing affairs.
In 2020, he was elected as one of the Vice Chairmen of the ARF and in 2021, elected as one of the four Vice Chairs of the IFHA.
He has enhanced the international status of Japanese racing. The JRA started the international simulcast for the 2016 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and generated a substantial turnover from the Japanese Pool, which was featured worldwide.
His love for the Liverpool Sound, especially The Beatles, is very well known to those in horse racing circles who have attended the Japan Cup.
