
As Chairman of both the Saudi Equestrian Authority (SEA) and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA), HRH Prince Bandar plays a key role in the advancement of equestrian sports in Saudi Arabia.
With the backing of the Saudi Arabian government, Prince Bandar led a team to successfully deliver the first Saudi Cup in 2020, with the annual event immediately making an impact on both the domestic and international racing scenes.
Under Prince Bandar’s Chairmanship and the support of Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court, the JCSA will continue development of Saudi Arabia’s standing in the world of horse acing, utilising strong ties with the sport’s governing bodies to shape The Kingdom’s domestic and international racing calendars.
A number of major advancements have been realised under Prince Bandar’s leadership. These include the transition from Part III to Part II in the International Federation of Horseracing Authority’s Blue Book and the classification of two Thoroughbred races on Saudi Cup day as Group 1 contests, The Saudi Cup and The Howden Neom Turf Cup.
HRH Prince Bandar also lends his support to preserving the long tradition and heritage of Purebred Arabian racing in Saudi Arabia. During his tenure at the JCSA he has overseen the promotion and development of several Purebred Arabian races including the Group 1 Obaiya Arabian Classic on Saudi Cup day and the Group 1 Al Mneefah Cup on Saudi Cup Friday.
HRH Prince Bandar was appointed as an Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia in May 2017 and is the Chair of the Board of the Arab Thought Foundation, an international NGO which promotes cohesion and dialogue between businesses, academia and society to encourage development in the region.
HRH Prince Bandar is also a Member of the General Assembly of the King Faisal Foundation, a charity supporting research, education and social welfare around the world.
